Martets Skate to a Tie with Millbrook

After a four game stretch at home, the Martlets hit the road to take on Millbrook. The first period was a solid start for the Martlets, controlling the play and getting some solid chances. The period ultimately ended 0-0, with neither team bring able to break the ice. As the second period was underway, Millbrook struck first, finding the back of the net around the 13-minute mark of the second period. Westminster quickly responded, capitalizing on a power play about five minutes later. Senior defenseman, Mana Shida ‘25,  fired a shot from the point that was tipped in front, and Bella Zapata ‘27 was in great position to bury the rebound, tying the game at 1-1! The remainder of the period was back and forth, but once again, both teams would head into the locker room with the game tied. Despite some strong offensive pressure from both teams in the third period neither team could find the back of the net. The Martlets penalty kill unit stood strong at the end of the third, allowing the team to head into overtime. The overtime period saw some tense moments, but both teams were unable to convert, and the final score stood at 1-1. The Martlets are back at Jackson Rink, Frida at 6pm, to take on Portsmouth Abbey!

The Grit and Grace player of the game goes to Mana Shida! Mana’s solid defensive play and all around effort today made a huge impact on the game and her powerful shot from the point led to the Martlets lone goal!
